Gama Plast BG OOD signed a grant agreement BG16RFPR001-2.004-2378-C01 “Energy Efficiency in GAMA PLAST BG OOD” at the end of March 2026. The project is worth 152,880.65 euros, of which 51,129.19 euros are European funding. The contract is co-financed by the Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises Program 2021-2027, within the framework of procedure BG16RFPR001-2.004 “Energy Efficiency and Use of Energy from Renewable Sources in Enterprises”.
The overall objective of the project is related to improving the energy efficiency of Bulgarian enterprises, including of Gama Plast BG OOD, and promoting the use of energy from renewable sources, thereby accelerating the private sector’s transition to climate neutrality by reducing the carbon footprint, optimizing energy consumption and increasing renewable energy in the energy mix of enterprises.
The specific objectives of the project are aimed at improving energy efficiency and increasing the competitiveness of GAMA PLAST BG OOD through investment in local electrical energy storage facilities (batteries) to an existing photovoltaic power plant in the enterprise. The project envisages the implementation of an electricity storage system in an enterprise with a main activity under KID 22.22 – production of plastic packaging. A battery system with inverters with a capacity of 232 kWh will be installed to store excess energy produced by the existing 800 kW photovoltaic power plant for own consumption.
The investment is necessary due to the high energy intensity and uneven load of the production processes. Its implementation will ensure a higher level of self-consumption from renewable energy sources, reduction of peak load, optimization of energy costs, increased energy independence and sustainability of production, as well as a contribution to reducing the company’s carbon footprint.
